Methods
The methods that I will use to research this question is by researching 4 subjects artists have spoken up about to encourage inclusivity; mental health stigmas, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and racisim. I will read 3 web articles on each subject and find at least one artist who represents these topics.
I seek to understand the way art is pushing our world to be more inclusive of minority groups and accepting of the differences we all have as unique humans. The way artists view the world is tied to their role in it. Which means that there are a variety of people attempting to bring their own community's issues to light. I chose to have the subjects focus on less included members of society because it is important to have an accepting culture in every culture in order to promote the best life for everyone. I choose art as the method of expression because it is a language that can easily bring the emotional sides of issues to light. When looking to the reserchmaterial itself covering these topics the need for factual articles that are legitimate was of the upmost importance. Following was its relevancy to the discussion question. With these two parts secure that typically led to an article with successful materials to pull from in order to examine these topics.
The articles themselves held more discussion and quotes and numbers which is unlike most reserch articles out there. While this was odd it is in my opinion suitable for the issues at hand. When it comes to social justice, cultural change, and arts influence on these particular aspects of ife word of mouth is more valuable. Numbers are not a major part of building social change other than how many people are on one half of the scale versus the other. When it comes to cultural change there is more merit, in my opinion, from the word of mouth. Especially from those suffering from the oppression. The reserch process used for this anthropologically speaking is cultural analysis. This is the method of analyzation where one is analyzing data, explaining cultural processes, and looking for connections.
An obsticle this assignment may provide is the quantity of research and news articles discussing specifically art's impact on inclusivity. This makes gathering data more difficult althought I am certain that I can make it work. Other challenges regardinf finding data was the use of numerical data being severly lacking. Although this makes some sense as the issue is a social issue which is more difficult to translate into quantitive numbers.
